Full Press release follows.
After a record year of growth and offering the most high-octane sustainable ride around, local electric motorbike and road-scooter maker, FONZ, has been recognised as a winner in two of the NSW 2023 Telstra Best of Business Awards.
The first is the Outstanding Growth category. The business grew by 113% YOY after moving into its custom-built carbon-neutral micro-factory in Alexandria, which increased its production capability five-fold.
And as Australia comes to realise the future is electric, FONZ has also won the Sustainability category – being recognised as perfectly poised to deliver on the growing need for cost-effective and congestion-reducing zero-emissions vehicles.
FONZ CEO and Founder, Michelle Nazzari, says she is incredibly humbled to have won two awards in a program she has long held significant admiration for.
“Telstra Awards are famous for putting businesses on the map. Businesses that have been toiling away doing the hard yards and who have really perfected their craft. We’re honoured FONZ can now say we’re winners amongst an impressive list of NSW businesses. And we can’t wait for the national awards in Melbourne next month.”
There were more than 20,000 nominations into the Telstra Best of Business Awards, with only 246 businesses shortlisted across the country’s state and territory Award competitions.
“The process to get here certainly involved rigorous reflection on our business and we’ve taken away an enormous amount of learning and insight from just going through this process.
“It was obvious for us to enter into the Sustainability category, given our whole business is centred around this principle, but our Outstanding Growth success is a reflection that the switch to electrification that is slowly but surely happening.
“While others in our sector are in early development of their products or looking offshore to source vehicles, we’re proud to see our years of R&D have paid off and more people are going electric with FONZ.
“It also signals Australia is ready to accept the evolution to electrics that we must undertake and we’re proud to lead our sector. Road-worthy, two-wheel electrics are an important part of the conversation around transport electrification and a lot our purchasers are getting rid of second family vehicles, getting their motorbike licence and embracing a new lifestyle that provides adventure – as well as a very cost effective, clean and fun way to get to work.
“It certainly feels like our hour is now,” Nazzari concludes.
Ends.
